Yi Soonjoos Arbeiten haben mir von Anfang an wegen ihres bekenntnishaften Charakters gefallen,der immer durch Humor gebrochen ist.Ich schätze sie ihrer biographischen Authentizität wegen - und ich meine damit die innere Biographie,die hier Ausdruck findet.Und ich schätze sie wegen ihrer Entscheidung,sich realistischer Kunstmittel zu bedienen und endlich aufgrund der subtilen Qualität ihrer Malerei. Es gehört Mut dazu,sich zu den eigenen Erfahrungen,Obsessionen,Erinnerungen und Vorstellungen zu bekennnen,sie in gleichnisartige Bilder zu überführen, die Ausdruck ihrer Verhältnisse zu Dingen und Menschen werden.
